We collect only what's necessary to provide you with the service:

  • Food logs: The entries you create, including food names, calories, and dates.
  • Weight and height: Weight measurements (manual or via Withings) and height if you choose to provide it for BMI calculations.
  • Medication history: If you use medication tracking, we store the medications you log and when you took them.
  • Goals and settings: Your calorie targets, timezone, and preferences.

What We Don't Collect

  • We don't use tracking cookies for advertising.
  • We don't collect your browsing history outside our site.
  • We don't build profiles to sell to third parties.
  • We don't share your data with advertisers.
  • We don't share your data with insurers.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Show you your food diary and progress.
  • Calculate your calorie totals and projections.
  • Send you essential account emails (login codes, important service updates).
  • Improve the service based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns.

Third-Party Services

We use a small number of trusted services to run Weighted Down:

  • Fly.io: Hosts our application and database.
  • Mailpace: Sends emails (login codes, account notifications). Email history is deleted after 30 days.
  • Fathom Analytics: Privacy-focused analytics that doesn't track individuals.
  • Withings: If you connect your account, we receive weight data you've authorised (you can disconnect at any time).

We don't use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other invasive tracking tools.

Data Security

  • All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
  • We use passwordless authentication via email codes for secure login.
  • We use secure, modern infrastructure with regular security updates.
  • Access to production data is strictly limited.

Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

  • Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time.
  • Export: You can download a full export of your data directly from Settings.
  • Deletion: You can request complete deletion of your account and all associated data.
  • Correction: You can edit your entries and profile information directly.

Cookies

We use only essential cookies required for the service to function (keeping you logged in, remembering your preferences). We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. That's it.

Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as you have an account with us. If you delete your account, we'll remove all your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymised, aggregate data may be retained for service improvement purposes.

Changes to This Policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll notify you via email or through the app. We'll never quietly change our privacy practices in ways that affect your rights.
